The Guild provides loans, grants, baby goods and baby clothes to pregnant women and mothers in need and other organisations who fulfil the Charity’s criteria, particularly pregnancy counselling organisations, where its resources allow.
The Guild of Our Lady of Good Counsel is a London-based grant-making charity that aims to serve women from all religious backgrounds, all nationalities, all ages, all social classes, rich or poor, married, single, and minors. The Charity’s ambition is to continue to increase the amount of financial support and vouchers it provides each year because of the struggles mothers face due to the increased cost of living.
The Charity can also provide accommodation to mothers with no rights to housing or benefit. It regularly assists pregnant women who are sleeping on the street to obtain adequate housing and support to see them through their pregnancy and beyond.
The Charity's principal objectives are:
- The provision of education, instruction and information on the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church particularly in relation to sexual morality and life issues.
- The relief in cases of need, hardship or distress of women who are pregnant or are mothers, and of their families and dependants, and
- The provision of financial support to organisations which assist women who are pregnant or are mothers by providing them with services such as financial assistance, counselling, support, information, safe-houses, accommodation, education, employment, baby-sitting, and services which assist women in continuing their pregnancies, provided that all such services are in accordance with the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church.
Further information is available on the Charity’s website.
The Charity doesn’t advertise an application process on its website. To enquire about its grant-making and the prospect of securing a grant or other resources, please contact the Guild.
