Micro-grants of between £50 and £250 are available to grassroots community groups across the UK to organise bigger, bolder and more regular actions together to win change for climate justice.
Tipping Point UK supports grassroots groups from all communities and backgrounds to use their power and organise bigger, bolder and more regular actions together to win change for climate justice.
The Grassroots Micro-Fund scheme aims to support grassroots groups organising for climate justice with tactics that help social movements to build greater collective power. Groups interested in this fund are invited to apply for a grant of between £50 to £250 (the average grant size is £100). Grants of up to £10,000 are also available via the Community Climate Resilience Fund provided by Network for Social Change.
The Micro-Fund scheme will prioritise grants to UK-based grassroots groups that meet 3 or more of the following criteria:
- Grassroots groups underrepresented in the climate movement, such as groups led by people of colour, women, trans, non-binary and working-class organisers.
- Grassroots groups that receive no funding or very little funding to cover their activities.
- Grassroots groups that have a clear strategy around how to build power and have an intersectional approach to the work they do.
- Grassroots groups that actively seek connection and collaboration with other movements and groups, and
- Grassroots groups that are organising around restorative climate justice, climate reparations, fossil fuel finance or expansion, or migrant justice.
Some examples of previously supported applicants are available on the Tipping Point website (scroll down to the bottom half of the page).
Applicants have a couple of options in terms of how to apply - they can complete a quick form or submit a video of no more than 3 minutes including the following information:
- Your group’s name and contact details
- How much you are requesting and what you need it for
- How you meet the criteria, and
- What other support you need from Tipping Point UK
