The Garrick Charitable Trust

Grants, normally for between £2,500 and £5,000, are available to UK registered charities for activities that encourage theatre, music, literature and dance.

They have a particular focus on helping professional organisations in need of financial support, and – more specifically – to nurture actors, directors, writers, musicians, composers and choreographers in the early stages of their careers.

Applicants need to show that the amount of money requested will make a real difference to their organisation’s future, for example by raising the standard of performance or achieving larger audiences.

Applying organisations must be a registered UK charity.  As the Trust explicitly supports proposals which help professionals to develop their careers and this should ideally include an element of genuine and significant mentoring or coaching.  It prefers projects where its modest contribution can make a real difference.

The Trustees meet quarterly usually in March, June, September and December with the next meeting being held in March 2026.

The next deadline for applications is Friday 13 February 2026.  Any applications that are received after this date will be held over to the next meeting.

To apply, charities should download a copy of the Garrick Charitable Trust application form  from the Trust’s website (a link can be found under the heading "How to Apply For A Grant - Application Form" in the right hand column), complete all fields and submit the completed form with all required attachments by email.

Alongside the application form, charities are required to submit their most recent accounts, together with a detailed project budget.  Applicants may also wish to include CVs of the people involved in the project, reviews of previous productions or publicity flyers.

Organisations that are awarded a grant are asked to wait 3 years before reapplying.
