Electricals Recycling Fund

Grants of up to £100,000 are available to UK organisations, including charities, local authorities and waste partnerships, to expand existing collection methods for small household electricals and trial new approaches to repairing, reusing and/or recycling household electricals.

Funded through the UK’s Extended Producer Responsibility regulations, Material Focus is an independent not-for-profit on a mission to stop the valuable, critical and finite materials inside electricals from going to waste.  Together with its partners Material Focus aims to transform the UK’s e-waste system, making it easier for more people to fix, donate, sell and recycle their electricals.

The Electricals Recycling Fund is a £750,000 grant fund that aims to expand existing methods or trial new creative and practical ones for recycling small household electricals.

Its website states that “almost 80% of people think recycling their electricals is the right thing to do – but only 45% of people think it’s easy.  Material Focus are looking to fund pilots that make it easier for the UK to recycle their old electricals”.

During 2026, Material Focus is looking to support pilot projects that introduce or expand local recycling options, including:

  • On-street collection banks
  • Community collection points in high-footfall locations such as libraries and leisure centres, and
  • The refurbishment of existing bring banks.

Organisations can apply for grants of up to £100,000 for on-street bring banks and up to £100,000 of funding for community drop-off points.

Further information, guidance and an application pack is available on the Material Focus website.

The deadline for applications is Sunday 31 May 2026.
