The Educational and General Charitable Trust is a family-based grant-making charity that supports small UK charities (annual income of £50k to £2m) focused on the environment, education and Developing Countries.
The purpose of the Trust is to use its funds for charitable activities associated with the advancement of education. It does this by making grants to other UK registered charities who in turn support charitable projects throughout the world, in particular by funding:
- Innovative projects in the field of children's education
- Projects in the field of protecting the environment and mitigating the impact of global warming, and
- Projects in the field of overseas development and the relief of poverty.
Grants can be used for core, capital or project costs. The charity tries to support its chosen organisation over a number of years, but no commitment is made by the charity to this effect.
The trustees have announced that the Trust has sufficient funds to continue in existence for the foreseeable future.
The trustees hold an annual meeting where decisions on grants are made. Applications may be made at any time but are only considered annually in November.
The Trust requests that contact is not made in writing to its registered address as this will incur a significantly longer delay in any response. Instead, initial contact should be made by completing the Contact Form on its website (click on the speech bubble to get in touch).
