Grants of up to £1,000 are available to a wide range of organisations in England, Scotland and Wales for local good causes that address food poverty, support low-income families, older people and those living in a neighbourhood who are disadvantaged and vulnerable. Environmental, recycling and reducing waste initiatives, as well as youth sports teams, can also be funded. Projects must be based in an area in which a One Stop Store is currently accepting applications.
Groundwork UK and One Stop Stores Limited have entered into a partnership whereby small grants of up to £1,000 can be provided for a wide range of organisations (see list above) that are working to address food poverty and/or support older people within a local neighbourhood. In particular, the programme is intended to:
- Address food poverty
- Improving the environment
- Reducing and/or recycling waste
- Running Youth Sports Teams
- Support low-income families
- Support older people/the elderly
- Support people who are vulnerable
Please note that not all stores are involved in this programme. Do check on the website for a map of stores that re currently open to applications (this included Twerton and Midsomer Norton at the time of writing). They may be able to provide additional support to help deliver local good causes by, for example:
- Providing awareness raising
- Fundraising support
- Volunteer time
You will also need to check your distance from the store as part of the application.
Applications are considered on a quarterly basis. The next application deadline is on Tuesday 31 March 2026, with decisions announced during the week beginning Monday 11 May 2026.
One further application window in 2026 is scheduled to open on Tuesday 1 September with a deadline of Wednesday 30 September 2026. Successful applicants will be announced during the week commencing 9 November 2026.
Further information and guidance notes are available on the Groundwork website. An online application form is available, but organisations must first register with Flexi Grant for an account. Instructions are provided in the guidance notes.
