Community Matters Fund

The latest round of the National Grid’s Community Matter Fund will support charities and community groups based in the Midlands, South West England or South Wales to provide green spaces that improve wellbeing and biodiversity.

The £250,000 fund is looking to support projects in public areas that boost accessibility to nature and enhance wildlife.

The following grants are available:

  • up to £5,000 for registered charities or non profit organisations; and
  • up to £2,000 for unregistered community groups

Projects supporting underserved or vulnerable groups to overcome barriers that prevent them from enjoying in natural settings are particularly encouraged to apply.

Grants can be used for projects that help:

  • create or develop parks, gardens, open spaces, raised flowerbeds and living walls in public areas
  • improve green space accessibility by creating paths, ramps and seating
  • boost biodiversity by planting trees, hedges and wildflowers, or provide bee hives and bird or bat boxes.

The fund opened to applications on Tuesday 9 June 2026 with a deadline of 5pm on Friday 26 June 2026.
