Community Fund

Grants of up to £500 or, in exceptional cases, £1,000 for individuals, collectives, organisations or small charities in Bristol and the surrounding areas, including Bath and North East Somerset.

The aim of  the funding is to help deliver projects that address issues that affect the LGBT+ community; support under-represented groups, and help LGBT+ community events.

Your project or group must be based in Bristol, Bath and North East Somerset, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset.

Your project must in some way:

  • Tackle LGBT+ discrimination and / or hate crime
  • Celebrate the lives, diversity and / or achievements of LGBT+ people and / or communities
  • Foster understanding and relationships between people from diverse backgrounds, including LGBT+ people

Suggestions include but are not limited to:

  • An event, exhibition, or fundraiser
  • LGBT+ books for schools or activities for young people
  • Community outreach projects
  • Community workshops for underrepresented members of the LGBT+ community to create outfits, banners, or choreography to enable them to join the Bristol Pride parade march.

You must be able to complete your project and spend the funds within 12 months of being awarded the grant.

There is no requirement to be a registered or existing charity or organisation.  Individuals or new groups/ collectives are welcome to apply.

They also do not need lots of evidence that your project has already achieved a lot or that your project exists.

Their Community Fund panel meets in March and October to decide who to award grants to.

Applications open around a month before the deadline.

Deadlines for these panels are:

  • 28 February for the March panel
  • 30 September for the October panel
