The Black Artists Grant (BAG) is currently being offered by Creative Debuts as a no-strings attached financial support to help UK-based Black Artists, who can spend the grant on whatever they want, for example:
- Creating new work
- Buy equipment or materials
- Travel
- Research
- To visit exhibitions or conferences
- To just cover some life expenses.
The scheme is open to all creative disciplines, eg painters, musicians, directors, jewellers, set designers, sculptors, choreographers etc.
The following criteria applies to all applicants:
- They must be based in the UK.
- The programme is specifically for Black Artists (those with Black heritage and identify as Black).
- Grant recipients will be chosen monthly.
- Each successful applicant will receive £500 (1 successful applicant will be selected each month).
There is no deadline as this is a monthly rolling grant, no age limit, and the grant does not expect any outcomes or reporting. Applicants should only apply once. For example, if you apply in February, you are still eligible for selection in a different month, all applications are kept and reviewed.
Applicants will not be informed if unsuccessful as all applications remain valid and are reviewed regularly by the selectors.
The grant is currently sponsored by Creative Debuts, who are open to having new supporters join the programme.
