Become an Energy Champion

Energy Champions are community volunteers who provide friendly, local energy advice and help people access grants, lower their energy bills, and improve their home’s efficiency.

What Energy Champions do

As an Energy Champion, you’ll bring your ideas and enthusiasm to help your community save energy and cut costs. There are many ways to get involved, including:

  • supporting at events and sharing practical advice
  • hosting talks on home energy improvements
  • providing resources, advice, and information at events
  • writing blogs on energy saving tips
  • becoming a local point of contact in your community
  • signposting and referring people at risk of fuel poverty in your frontline work
  • advocating for energy efficiency changes within your community and workplace
  • sharing feedback on energy policies to help improve support.

Who can apply to become an Energy Champion

You don't need any prior experience to become an Energy Champion, just enthusiasm and a passion for helping your community save energy. Whether you have spare time to volunteer or want to integrate this into your job, we offer flexible opportunities to get involved.

We welcome volunteers from all backgrounds who want to:

  • make a positive impact in their community
  • gain green employability skills
  • connect with local energy experts
  • get free training to enhance their knowledge
  • join a network of volunteers helping people save money on energy bills and reduce their carbon footprint.

Training and support

All volunteers receive free 'Energy Essentials' training from the Centre for Sustainable Energy (CSE). If your focus is on signposting, a shorter training option is available.

You will be supported throughout by Bath and West Community Energy (BWCE), with ongoing guidance and resources.
