We introduced a PSPO in 2026, governing the behaviour of dogs and dog owners in council-owned cemeteries within Bath and North East Somerset.
We introduced two formal rules, enforceable by fines, which require owners to:
- keep their dogs on a short lead (2 metres or less)
- immediately clean up and remove any dog mess
Exemptions and limitations
The PSPO does not apply to:
- assistance dogs at any site, if it is not practical for owners to follow regulations
- The dog owner has a reasonable excuse for failing to comply with the requirements
- Consent has been given to the person failing to comply with the Requirement
