Community Energy Project: Peasedown, Wellow and Shoscombe

Guiding your community from first interest in community-owned renewable energy to exploring funding opportunities, always at your pace, and always with local people in control.

About the project

Energy in Your Community helps local people explore renewable energy together.

This project supports the communities of Peasedown, Wellow and Shoscombe. It builds on ideas first explored in 2022, when local people joined a workshop about community‑owned renewable energy. Thanks to new funding, we can now take those ideas forward and turn them into real opportunities.

We guide you through a clear, step‑by‑step journey, from first conversations to funding applications, so you always know what happens next.

At every stage, your community stays in control. You:

  • make the decisions that matter
  • choose where the benefits go

Progress so far

We have made good progress so far:

Who we are working with

We are working closely with local groups to explore how community‑owned energy could work here.

Together, we are making sure the project reflects local priorities and values.

Have your say

If you couldn’t attend the open day, you can still take part:

  • an online survey is open for residents to feedback on suggested locations for wind turbines and solar farms
  • your input will help ensure decisions reflect the whole community
  • the survey includes suggested sites for renewable energy, based on the 2022 workshop. These sites are shown on the project map.

If you would like to get involved, email us at Community_Energy@bathnes.gov.uk.

What happens next

At the Community Energy Forum event in February, participants will:

  • review outcomes from the open day and the survey results
  • discuss the site suggestions, now with new technical input
  • agree a location shortlist to take forward for detailed technical assessment, if residents are in favour

The assessment results will be shared at the upcoming Community Energy Insights session. This ensures the journey is transparent, and everyone knows what happens next.
