You could get free home energy improvements to make your home warmer, cheaper to heat and better for the environment.
Bright Green Homes offers a free energy‑efficiency home assessment, and funding for retrofit improvements such as insulation or low‑carbon heating. In some cases, the full cost of the work can be covered.
The scheme is delivered across Bath & North East Somerset, Bristol and North Somerset in partnership with Bristol City Leap and local councils.
Who can apply
You may be able to get Bright Green Homes funding if the following apply:
- you live in Bath & North East Somerset, Bristol or North Somerset
- you are a homeowner or a private tenant
- your home is occupied and furnished
- your home has poor or moderate energy performance (below EPC grade C)
- your household income is £36,000 or less per year, or you recieve certain benefits such as universal credit or pension credit,
- or if you live in one of the target areas for the scheme
You cannot apply if you live in social housing or temporary accommodation.
Funding is limited and offered on a first‑come, first‑served basis.

Bristol City Leap will confirm what support and funding you’re eligible for.
How to apply
You’ll apply through City Leap, who manage the scheme and funding.
It helps to have the following information ready:
- household income details
- your home’s EPC rating (if you have one – if not, City Leap can help)
- details of your heating system
