The aims of the Modern Library Programme are to ensure the delivery of the Council’s strategic objectives and outcomes as well as securing a sustainable future for both Libraries and One Stop Shop services, including those provided by the Council’s partners and the voluntary sector.
By integrating these services in the Council’s three main population centres, it will provide a primary multi-agency destination for learning, encouraging literacy, access to advice, information and IT - supporting more people in the community to fulfil their potential in an inclusive and accessible environment.
The Council recognises that one size will not fit all needs and is developing a new approach for the delivery of community run library services across the area.
By reviewing the way we deliver library and customer services, there’s an opportunity to invest in, invigorate and improve services - providing places where everyone in the community can access support, knowledge, culture and events to help them reach their full potential.
