Bath and North East Somerset Council is committed to all children and young people having access to high quality play provision.  We recognise that disabled children and young people may require additional support to be able to access play opportunities.   The Play Team manage a range of contracts with voluntary sector play providers who provide play provision which is specifically for disabled children.

 

 

National Autistic Society

Weekly after school club in Bath which is specifically designed to meet the needs of children and young people with Aspergers Syndrome and to offer support to their parents/carers and siblings. In 2012 NAS will be taking a group on a residential weekend away at Easter.

Target group: Children and Young People aged 5 – 18 years with Aspergers Syndrome.  These sessions run at Riverside Youth Centre in Bath are split to cater for younger ones, followed by a later session for older children/teenagers.

KIDS

A weekly term time only Saturday club in Bath for disabled children aged 5 to 13 years living in Bath and North East Somerset. 

Holiday playschemes for 5-19 year old disabled children in Keynsham and Norton Radstock 

Bath Area Play Project 

·         Community Play Ranger service after school, year round in six different parks in Bath

Family Play Inclusion and Play support for disabled children mostly livingin Bath after school, individually and in groups in various locations across Bath

Inclusive holiday playschemes in Bath open to all disabled children and children with high needs aged from 5 – 12 years from across B&NES as well as non-disabled children aged 5 – 12 years.

Teenage Rampage – a weekly youth club for disabled young people from 13-19 years old (in Bath open to those living throughout Bath)

Holiday play provision for disabled 5-13 year olds based at Threeways School in Bath (open to those living throughout B&NES)

Wansdyke Play Association

Community Play services for 5-16 years olds in Norton Radstock and Keynsham

Family Play Inclusion and support for disabled children and their carers living in Norton Radstock and Keynsham -  mostly after school, individually tailored sessions to support a child to enjoy positive play and short break.  

Inclusive Saturday Club for 14-19 years olds – primary target group is disabled young people – run at Somer Centre, next to the Somer skate park in Midsomer Norton.  

WPA are piloting small groups after school for children in need in Keynsham and Chew Valley.

Fosse Way School, Midsomer Norton 

Holiday playschemes for disabled children and young people from 3-19 years. Based at Fosseway school.

Wheels For All

The Play Team manages an exciting new project called Wheels for All.  A variety of bikes, trikes and scooters specially designed for people (adults or children) with mobility impairments are available for use by groups, families or individuals.  If you would like to know more about this project or let us know of someone that you know who you think would benefit from trying out one of the bikes please do get in touch with Chris Revill (Phone: 01225 396433, Email: chris_revill@bathnes.gov.uk.)
