Skipton Building Society Charitable Foundation

The Skipton Building Society Charitable Foundation provides grants of up to £5,000 to UK registered charities based and working in areas in which Skipton Building Society has a branch.  The nearest on is Bristol.  A list of all UK branches is provided on the Society's website.  Please note that applicants do not have to be customers of the Building Society to apply for a grant.

The next round will open to applications on Wednesday 1 April 2026 and close as soon as 150 applications have been received.  This is likely to be shortly after the round opens to applications.

Following a review its grant-making priorities towards the end of 2024, the Foundation is now focusing its funding on the following two areas, with charities supporting people in the top 50% of the UK Index of Multiple Deprivation prioritised):

To enable people experiencing hardship and/or underserved groups to access a place to call home, in particular by:

  • Access and support into a safe and secure permanent or temporary place to call home. The Foundation wants to support charities that enable people most in need to live independently.
  • Access and support into a safe and secure home in times of crisis. Enabling people into temporary accommodation in emergency situations such as homelessness or a health crisis, and/or
  • Access to a safe and secure place in the community.  When 'home' doesn't feel like home - people need somewhere to go to receive appropriate help and wellbeing support. For some people a community centre, charity hub or simply a safe space feels like home, so the Foundation wants to make sure these services continue to thrive.

To enable people experiencing hardship and/or underserved groups to improve their financial wellbeing, in particular by:

  • Providing the support needed to prevent and/or address financial difficulty. Support for charities who provide help and guidance on how to manage money and improve financial wellbeing.
  • Providing access to financial education. Support for charities whose work will support financial independence and education, and/or
  • Providing better digital competence to enable financial wellbeing. Support for charities who support people to navigate the digital world especially where it relates to managing money.

Further information, guidance and an application form is available on the Foundation’s website.

The next application round, also with a limit of 150 applications, will open on Tuesday 1 September 2026.
