Small Grants up to £5,000 and Large Grants over 1-4 years of between £20,000 and £25,000 are available for revenue projects delivered by UK registered charities to support vulnerable people. The Large Grant programme is specifically targeted at charities working with people with Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs).
The Leathersellers’ Foundation awards grants to a wide range of UK registered charities and Charitable Incorporated Organisations under the following two programmes:
Small Grants up to £5,000 are available to UK registered charities with an income of under £200,000 that are:
- Delivering activities to meet an identified need for vulnerable people in their community.
- Open and transparent about their work and finances.
- Understand the needs of their local community, and
- Working in partnership with others.
Small Grants are one-off revenue grants that can be used to support the activities of charities that are currently supporting vulnerable people and working in geographical areas of high deprivation in the UK.
Main Grants between £20,000 and £25,000 for up to 4 years are available to UK registered charities with an annual income of between £200,000 and £2,000,000 that:
- Are delivering activities to meet an identified need for vulnerable people in their community.
- Are open and transparent about their work and finances.
- Are able to understand the needs of their local community.
- Are working in partnership with others.
- Can demonstrate that the voice of service users/experts by experience informs service design and delivery.
- Can demonstrate that the majority of people using the service have experienced Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) or are supporting people who have experienced ACEs, such as parents and caregivers.
- Can demonstrate the effectiveness of their approach through evaluation or external research.
- Have as their core focus, the goal to prevent and/or reduce the harm of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) by providing services to children, young people and/or adults.
- Have at least one year’s published accounts, and
- Use a trauma-informed approach and evidence-based interventions.
Main Grants are available to UK registered charities and Charitable Incorporated Organisations charities that are working to prevent the occurrence of and/or support recovery from adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) by providing services to children and young people and/or adult survivors in recovery. The term ACEs is used to recognise traumatic events that occur during childhood that can have a significant impact on a person's physical, emotional and mental health throughout their life.
The next Small Grants application window will open at 10am on Tuesday 5 May and close as soon as 40 eligible applications have been received.
The Main Grants programme is currently open with a deadline for Expressions of Interest of 5pm on Thursday 30 April 2026.
