The Foundation operates through a trustee-led selection process rather than accepting unsolicited applications. However, local causes may be nominated by an Iceland or Food Warehouse employee at one of its c.1,000 UK stores to be considered for a grant.
The Iceland Foods Charitable Foundation (IFCF) supports the good causes for which Iceland Foods and its employees undertake a wide range of fundraising activities each year. It focuses on multi-year partnerships, particularly in dementia, children's charities, and community projects.
The Foundation operates through a trustee-led selection process rather than accepting unsolicited applications. Its grant-making is usually pre-committed to chosen partner charities.
However, while it does not have a public application process or open grant rounds, individual Iceland and The Food Warehouse stores may support local causes nominated by their employees. Several hundred local charities have been supported through this process of store-level engagement in previous years.
An Iceland store locator is available on the Iceland website, while a Food Warehouse store locator can be found on the Food Warehouse website.
The Foundation’s grant-making priorities are:
- Children
- Dementia
- Environment, and
- Wellbeing
Further information on each of these priority areas is available on the Foundation’s website.
Although this is likely to be a highly speculative process, as the Foundation’s trustees tend to proactively select which charities to partner with and support, UK registered charities whose work strongly aligns with the priorities above and would like to flag up their work may be able to do so by emailing the Foundation.
The Foundation is also associated with the following schemes:
- The Iceland Food Club - individuals looking for financial help with essentials can apply for interest-free microloans (£25–£100) via Fair for You, which is supported by the IFCF, and
- The Iceland Community Hub – small businesses and community groups can access a 15% discount on bulk buys through the Iceland Community Hub.
