The Berkeley Foundation works in partnership to help young people in the areas where the Berkeley Group works to overcome barriers, improve their lives and build a fairer society, with the vision of creating communities in which every young person can thrive.
The Foundation, which usually has an annual charitable expenditure of between £2 million and £4.5 million, focuses on supporting young people across four themes:
- Homelessness
- Employment
- Skills
- Health & Wellbeing
The Foundation works with expert frontline charities across London, Birmingham and the South of England to drive change across 5 impact goals. To achieve its goals, it works with between 40 and 50 expert charities at any one time. Its Resilience Fund offers grants and support to small-to-medium sized charities to invest in their organisational development, building resilience for the future. Each funding round has a specific focus, and organisations must meet the eligibility criteria to apply. The Foundation states that it is presently unable to accept unsolicited applications outside of the Resilience Fund, which is currently closed to applications. However, charities that would like to make the Foundation aware of their work are invited to submit an Expression of Interest. This will enable the Foundation to understand if a charity’s work aligns with its strategic priorities and it may get in contact in the future if it has a live funding opportunity relevant to the charity’s work.
