Grants of up to £2,000 are available to support the essential club costs of grassroots sports organisations in England and Wales.
Since launching in Scotland in 2016, the Aldi Sports Fund has awarded more than £500,000 to over 650 grassroots sports clubs. By expanding the initiative into England and Wales, Aldi aims to help even more clubs support their communities.
Grassroots sports clubs across England and Wales can apply for a grant of up to £2,000 through the Aldi Sports Fund. A separate scheme is available in Scotland (details can be found on the Fund’s website).
Eligible groups are:
- A local, community-focused sports club
- A registered Community Amateur Sports Club (CASC)
- A school, college or educational organisation running sporting activities
- A registered charity providing sporting opportunities
- A Scout or Guide group running sporting activities
- A charitable service fund of the Armed Forces
- A Community Interest Company (CIC)
Funding can be used towards a range of essential club costs, including:
- Coaching
- Costs that help increase participation
- Facility hire
- Improvements that enhance the experience for club members
- Sports equipment
- Team kits and clothing, and/or
- Training programmes
39 grants totalling £65,000 are available for grassroots sporting activities in England and Wales, with funding broken down as follows:
- Gold Award: 13 grants each of £3,000
- Silver Award: 13 grants each of £1,250, and
- Bronze Award: 13 grants each of £750
Applications are made by email with applicants asked to state in no more than 200 words:
- What makes your club great
- How you would use the funding, and
- The difference the funding would make to your local community.
