A 12 month fixed term opportunity has arisen for the post of Deputy Team Manager in the Disabled Children's Team. The team works with disabled children, their families and other agencies to support the child or young person to achieve positive outcomes through EHC, CHiN, CP and Looked After Plans.
This is an opportunity for an experienced Social Worker with current experience in Child Protection, Court proceedings and Children in Care. Experience in working with disabled children and an understanding and commitment to the social model of disability will be required. Post-qualifying training and evidence of effective supervisory skills would be a distinct advantage.
We will consider applications from those wishing to make this their first management post. You will be supported and trained to undertake the full range of management responsibilities and mentoring / coaching can also be available.
Particular skills and development opportunities working with this team include:
- Contribute to the development of the local S.E.N.D. offer
- Working closely with partnership agencies to achieve positive outcomes
- Working closely with Adult Services to ensure positive transitions
- Enabling full participation of children in planning and service developments
You will need to demonstrate a working knowledge of the legislative framework and an understanding of the impacts of recent legislation on care planning for children and young people with a disability.
The team is based in Keynsham Civic Centre as part of the Children's Services Division.
