In 2010, we identified three proposed priorities that respond to local issues, deliver the community's aspirations, as set out in the Sustainable Community Strategy, and reflect Bath and North East Somerset Council's commitment to address economic challenges that are facing the district's market towns.
The three proposed priorities for the town centre are to:
Priority 1: Strengthening the shopping heart - bring empty shops back to use and provide larger shopping units that attracts national retailers
Priortiy 2: Create a mixed use town centre - offer a wide range of facilities including a new modern supermarket, new offices, new homes and community facilities
Priority 3: Make the most of existing local attractions - build upon the town's distinctive retail offer, highlight the character of the historic buildings and continue to improve community facilities
