Bus lanes in Bath

Find out where our bus lanes are located (all of our bus lanes are within Bath), who can use them and when they are in use.

A bus lane is a section of road that during certain hours of the day, can only be used by buses, taxis (except Milsom Street), emergency and other specified vehicles.

How to identify a bus lane

The following are examples of some of the ways you can identify a bus lane:

  • Signs directing traffic away from the bus lane asking you to move into the correct lane
  • Road markings with arrows pointing traffic away from the bus lane and into the correct lane
  • A sign stating that CCTV is being used (this is a symbol of a camera)
  • A sign stating what vehicles are allowed on this part of the road (could be a picture of a taxi, bus, bike and emergency vehicle)

Some are a legal requirement and others are good practice, so may not always be in place.
