We’re proud to be supporting Clean Air Day 2019 - the UK’s biggest air pollution campaign.

It’s a chance to find out more about air pollution, share information, and make the air cleaner and healthier for everyone.

Get involved

Could you:

  • Run an air quality event at your workplace?
  • Coordinate a clean air event in your community?
  • Find out about sustainable transport solutions for your business/organisation?
  • Organise a walking bus to take the kids to school?
  • Talk to your friends and neighbours about air pollution?
  • Pledge to give your car a day off or (even better) a day a week off -  and share this pledge with others online?
  • Attend our pop-up event in Kingsmead Square on 20 June (see below)

How to pledge action

Download a pledge card, capture it on camera, and share it with your community, friends and family online.

For example:

  • I pledge to leave my car at home on 20 June
  • I pledge to walk to school on 20 June
  • I pledge to use the Park & Ride instead of driving into Bath
  • I pledge to cycle to and from work on 20 June
  • I pledge not to idle my engine on 20 Jun

How can organisations pledge action?

Organisations can also pledge to support clean air in Bathnes. For example:

  • We pledge to prepare sustainable travel plans for staff
  • We pledge to give a free coffee to everyone who leaves their car at home on clean air day
  • We pledge to look at sustainable delivery options this Clean Air Day

Download a pledge card , capture it on camera, and share it with your business network.

If you're considering sustainable delivery options, come along to our pop-up event at Kingsmead Square on 20 June 11-6pm. You'll be able to explore a Tevva electic lorry, a fully electric van (run by the University of Bath) and an electric bike (now being used by the police). For details, see below.

Pop-up Event: Clean, green ways to get around

Kingsmead Square, Bath, 11am to 6pm

This Clean Air Day we’re showcasing clean, green ways that you can get around Bath and North East Somerset (Bathnes). So if you want to cut your own contribution to air pollution, head to Kingsmead Square on the 20 June.

There’s something for everyone at the stand:

  • Expert advice from TravelWest on how to get around sustainably
  • Discover how advanced motoring techniques can help cut pollution and make the roads safer for walking and cycling
  • Find out how your business could reduce its NO2 footprint by using a last-mile cargo bike, electic van, and a Tevva electric lorry - all available to explore
  • Discover the benefits of investing in a fully electric or hybrid electric car or regularly using a car club
  • Check out the latest electric bikes from Take Charge Bikes
  • Get confident on your bike – book your family onto Bikeability’s summer training
  • Make a smoothie as you peddle – on an electric smoothie bike
  • You can also ask the team about other causes of pollution and how to protect yourself.

And last but not least:

  • Dr Bike will be on hand to give your bike a thorough check-up.

About Dr Bike

Dr Bike is run by the bristol-based charity Life Cycle UK. They do essential bike repairs for free to ensure your ride is roadworthy and running smoothly.

A qualified cycle mechanic will give each bike up to 20 minutes of tlc, performing safety checks and carrying out essential repairs such as fixing brakes, mending punctures and tuning gears. You will receive a ‘prescription’ with details of your bike’s condition, outlining any larger works that will need to be fixed at a bike shop.  You are very welcome to stay and observe, although the mechanic won’t be able to provide tuition. Better yet, use this time to speak with the event team to learn more about sustainable travel in B&NES.

About the Tevva electric lorry

We're excited to have a Tevva electric lorry on demo at the stand! If you're serious about sustainable deliveries for your business, our team will help you to understand the benefits of this range of electric lorries, the different options available and charging infrastructure required. For more information go to www.tevva.com (trucks).

We look forward to seeing you at the event!
