Revitalising our landscape for people, communities and heritage
Our website is currently under construction. In the meantime we’re very grateful to Bath & NE Somerset Council for continuing to host this page.
The vision: The Bathscape scheme will ensure Bath and its setting is better recognised, managed and experienced as a landscape city, with the surrounding hills and valleys blending with the World Heritage Site and actively enjoyed by all. A greater number and wider range of people will feel connected to their local landscape and inspired to explore the outstanding built and natural environments, improving health and wellbeing.
The Bathscape Walking Festival takes place between 14th and 22nd September. The programme is here.
The Festival features 50 free walks covering a variety of themes and distances. All the walks are led by knowledgeable leaders and supported by volunteers. The walks start at various locations around Bath and explore every corner of the city and surrounding countryside.
Whether you’re visiting Bath for the first time, or have lived here all your life, want to walk longer distances, enjoying stunning views, find out more about local history or want a shorter, thought provoking experience, there’s a walk for you.
Bathscape’s Community Action for Nature Group, which runs regular volunteering sessions in the glorious countryside around Bath, is looking for volunteers to help care for the landscape and make sure it can be enjoyed by future generations.
The work people could get involved in is varied but it will give people the chance to develop new skills, while working to restore important grassland and woodland areas that are under threat.
From hand-collecting seeds from yellow rattle plants on National Trust land to sowing the seeds later in the year throughout the Bathscape area, volunteers will see the fruits of their labour.
We have other volunteering opportunities as well. For further information on volunteers, please contact us on 01225 477 593 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Bathscape Landscape Partnership is a National Lottery Heritage Fund supported project aimed at reconnecting people with the natural landscape surrounding Bath. There are 25 projects across four themes – summarised in the pdf document below.
