Definition of community-based education, health or social care providers

If you are a community-based education, health or social care organisation, you can apply to exempt non-compliant vehicles being used for work in the zone.

These organisations employ education, health and social care practitioners including practice and district nurses, health visitors, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, podiatrists and other specialist therapists and service professionals who could be using their own vehicles for work.

The vehicle(s) must be registered by the organisation.

Education, health or social care providers include:

  • Local GP practices
  • Local NHS trusts or NHS foundation trusts or care trusts
  • Private sector education, health or social care providers commissioned or contracted locally by NHS England, the NHS Clinical Commissioning Group or the council e.g. Virgin Care
  • Bath & NE Somerset Council or a neighbouring council with education, health and social care responsibilities
  • Any other local agency with community-based education, health or social care responsibilities, such as a domiciliary care agency or voluntary sector organisation
  • It does not include mainstream primary or secondary schools

Please email CAZ_info@bathnes.gov.uk if you have any questions about this exemption, or apply using the link on the exemptions page.
