Bath & North East Somerset Walking Strategy
  • The Council's Walking Strategy is designed to support the Council’s Visions and Values statements.
  • It recognises pedestrians as one of the high priority groups within the traffic management hierarchy and seeks to promote safe and efficient use of the highway whilst benefiting the local economy and tourist potential.
  • At the same time, it should contribute to national efforts to reduce the growth in motor traffic.

  • Bath and North East Somerset’s Sport and Active Leisure Team’s ultimate aim is to increase participation in sport and active leisure.
  • We believe walking is an ideal activity to help us reach our fourth Get Active key theme of ‘improving health through physical activity’.
  • Walking is a low-risk, low intensity activity suitable for everybody to perform everyday.
