Bath & North East Somerset Council - Five Arches

Five Arches

The 5 Arches scheme will be an important part of the cycle network in Midsomer and Radstock area connecting directly (via a Toucan crossing) from the existing Norton Radstock (NR) Greenway.

The NR Greenway is a shared use path between the centre of Radstock and Midsomer Norton. This will therefore provide a traffic free route between Midsomer Norton and Radstock areas and the proposed Five Arches. From the NR Greenway there are also links to the Colliers Way (NCN 24) and the proposed Two Tunnels scheme.

Investigations are also currently being carried out by the council to extend the NR Greenway westwards towards Farrington Gurney along a disused railway.

The 5 Arches provides a spine route which will link between two large housing estates in the Westfield area, Midsomer Norton High Street, the Leisure Centre and areas of Welton, Paulton, Radstock and beyond. It will provide a recreational route for walkers, runners and a safe area for children learning to cycle.

This will be a multi- use path and so horse riders will be able to link between the section of the NR Greenway which is also multi-use, the Fosseway which is a BOAT and the surrounding country lanes.

In addition it will provide an off road link to the Midsomer Norton Sports Centre, new adventure park & skate park.
