General Enquiries

Enquiries relating to bus fares and season tickets are dealt with by the operator of the bus service.

Park and Ride

The Council has jurisdiction over the fares on the Park and Ride Services.

Incorrect Fare

If the query relates to a different fare being charged for the exact same journey a copy of the fare table can be requested from the bus driver.

The bus operators have a duty to provide all their drivers with a copy of the latest fare table available for inspection by any member of the public. Please note the fare table is for inspection only and cannot be taken off the bus.

Freedom Travelpass

A Freedom Travelpass gives you unlimited travel on most bus and all train services within Bristol, Bath & North East Somerset, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire.  Full details are available at First Great Western's website.

BathRider

What is BathRider?

BathRider is a bus season ticket scheme created by Bath & North East Somerset Council and introduced by the commercial bus operators in Bath from 9th November 2009.  A BathRider ticket allows unlimited travel on local bus services in Bath during the period of validity (a day or a week).

Where can I buy a BathRider ticket?

Passengers can buy their Daily or Weekly BathRider scratch cards at:

  • Bath Bus station;
  • Tourist Information Centre – Abbey Churchyard
  • Tourism Centre –Bath Spa railway station (Platform 1)
  • STA shop – Bath University.

How much does a BathRider ticket cost?

The price (set by the bus operators) are:

Week £17.50 £16.50

How do I use my BathRider ticket?

When the date of travel is scratched off, the ticket is then valid for the whole of that day.  If it’s a weekly ticket, the ticket is sealed over and is then valid for 7 days from the date scratched off.  There is no limit to the number of times the ticket can be used that day or week, but the ticket must be shown to the driver each time it is used.

What bus services is BathRider valid on?

BathRider is valid along the whole route of bus services 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 10, 11, 12, 13, 13B, 13C, 13D, 14, 14A, 17, 18, 20A, 20C, 418, 419, 700, 716, 734, 972 and U18.

On other bus services, BathRider is valid within the BathRider zone (please see map on leaflet downloadable from the right hand side of this page) as far as the boundary bus stops on each corridor.

BathRider is not valid on Park & Ride services 19, 21, 31, 41 or 42, tour buses, coaches or services provided for special events.

What are the Conditions of Use?

  • Tickets are valid for one person per journey and are not transferable.  Travel is subject to the bus operators' conditions.
  • Child tickets are available to persons aged 5 to 15 inclusive.  Proof of age (such as passport or birth certificate) may be required.
  • Tickets must be shown to the driver when boarding the bus and when requested to do so by an inspector.
  • Day tickets are vaild until 0400 the following day.  Weekly tickets are valid for 7 days.
  • Tickets are valid for travel within the scheme area only.  On buses travelling to places outside the scheme area, normal fares will apply from the scheme boundary stops onwards.
  • No refund will be made for lost, stolen or unused tickets.
PLUSBUS

PLUSBUS is a bus pass that you can buy as an add-on to your train ticket at the station ticket office, by telephone or online. PLUSBUS tickets are accepted on most buses in Bath.  Further details are available from www.plusbus.info.

Please note that PLUSBUS tickets are not accepted on Bath Park & Ride sevices.
