Bath & North East Somerset Council - Car Pooling

Car Pooling

City Car Club

City Car Club allows commuter in Bath to drive a lovely new car that’s just round the corner without any of the cost and hassle of owning it yourself. Members only pay for the actual journeys they make, saving the planet and a large wedge of their disposable income along the way.

How does it work?
  • Cars are booked through a central office using the telephone or internet
  • They can be hired 24 hours a day for periods of as little as an hour at a time
  • Cars are located at local "stations" within 10 minutes' walk
  • They can be opened with your own personal Smartcard
Why join?

If you have a car that you only use from time to time or don’t own one but would like access to a car occasionally then joining a car club could save you money, hassle and improve the environment.

Why is it good for the environment?
Research indicates that each City Car removes the need for between five and eight privately owned vehicles. This helps to reduce congestion and relieve the pressure on parking spaces in urban areas. Having fewer cars means less cluttered streets, fewer front gardens being used as driveways and more plants!
City Car Club drivers are smart and integrate other modes of transport into their lifestyles. Some are more social, like public transport, others are healthier, like bike riding.
