Household waste collection times: why should you care?

To keep our streets clean, attractive and safe for residents and visitors, no waste should be put out for collection before 8pm on the night before your scheduled collection day.

What’s the penalty?

If you’re caught putting litter on a public street or pavement outside of the times specified or if you obstruct the pavement, you’ll be issued with a £75 Fixed Penalty Notice 75 under Part IV of the Environment Protection Act. Non-payment can lead to a fine of up to £2,500 following a summary conviction.

What you can do to help?
  • Ensure you put rubbish out after 8pm the day before your collection
  • Ensure you put rubbish out before 7am on the day of your collection
