New pedestrian refuge at Charlton Road Keynsham

Prior to the scheme being implemented, pedestrians were expected to cross a section of carriageway which intersects with a mini roundabout and a supermarket car park.

The installation of the refuge has provided an invaluable asset to the pedestrians of Keynsham, allowing them to cross in a more systematic, manageable and safe manner and giving them greater accessibility to Keynshams’ High street.

To date this scheme has been a widely welcomed success.  This scheme has included new technologies that have allowed us to get the work complete on site in a fraction of the time.  Also technologies that have mitigated any risk of slip on manhole covers, and new technology in the world of internally illuminated bollards that has helped contribute to B&NES’ effort at reducing their carbon footprint.
