The Road Safety Plan is a document which sets out the Council's response to national government policies as well as local needs in relation to road safety. In particular, the plan lays out ways in which the Council will address national casualty reduction targets and sets further objectives to reduce the level of road danger faced by all transport users in the Bath & North East Somerset area. The last Road Safety Plan describes the services and partnerships required to meet these objectives for the period 2000 to 2005.
Bath & North East Somerset Council joined with Bristol City Council, South Gloucestershire Council, and North Somerset Council in October 2006 to form the West of England Road Safety Partnership, which is in the process of forming joint Road Safety Policies which will supercede the current Road Safety Plan.
