A Transport Interchange for the 21st century
A £10 million investment in Bath Spa Railway Station and a £13million investment in the new bus station will bring a 21st century experience to Bath’s transport infrastructure.
Key features of the design include a new civic plaza creating a gateway to the City of Bath linking to the new bus station creating an integrated public transport interchange to enhance the existing rail and bus services.
The Bath Railway Station has been reviewed with amendments to improve the permeability and navigation of the station environment for passengers and pedestrians. New station entrances to the south and north-west are proposed along with new passenger lifts to the up line and down line platforms to enhance the accessibility of the Railway Station.

Supporting public transport improvements
The SouthGate Transport Interchange supports what Bath and North East Somerset Council is working to achieve – providing improved public transport facilities to encourage more people to leave their cars at home.
The Transport Interchange will also be served by the Bus Rapid Transit system offering train users easy access from both the expanded Newbridge Park and Ride and new A4 East Bath Park and Ride sites.
Benefits for the whole community
Many of the bus users throughout Bath and North East Somerset will benefit from the better bus routes and the Transport Interchange – including those from communities outside the city, like Keynsham and Midsomer Norton, who work in the centre of Bath.
The improvements to the bus station provide a modern, 21st century facility that encourages people to use public transport more.
