A Serious Equality Incident Report Form (SEIRF) has been developed for recording incidents involving children and young people (CYP) in B&NES.  The form is accompanied by a guidance handbook.

This form is relevant to all CYP settings.  It covers all of the protected characteristics of the Equality Act 2010 and in addition captures serious incidents relating to other vulnerable groups, such as CYP in care.

Why should settings use the form?

It will help us to promote the health and well-being of children and young people and enable schools and other settings to demonstrate the work they are doing in tackling equalities related bullying.  It will also enable the Local Authority to offer targeted support to settings.

What happens to the data?

Data gathered will help us to understand the prevalence and type of serious equality related incidents in our area and assess the effectiveness of our anti-bullying and equalities work.  No data coming from an individual school or setting will be publicised or shared.
