The latest of our World War One performances, Voices 1917: Returning We Hear The Larks took place at the Bath Royal Literary and Scientific Institution in Queen Square, Bath, on Monday 6 November 2017.
Like the previous annual events, Poetry 1914, Poetry 1915: The Darkness and The Thunder and The Rain and Voices 1916: Requiem For The World the 2017 event featured readings of poems, letters, diary entries and newspaper articles from 100 years ago compiled and performed by members and friends of Bath Poetry Cafe. The readings were interspersed with songs presented by singers from Walcot State Choir. A slideshow of 1917 images accompanied the performances. Once again the audience was full and very appreciative.
A particular focus for the 2017 commemoration was the Battle of Passchendaele, 1917.
Look out for details of Voices 1918 which will take place in November 2018. The evenings are free to all with donations invited to support The Royal British Legion.
For full details about the 2017 event see the Voices 1917 Event Flyer.
Details of Voices 2018 will be posted on the WW1 centenary calendar nearer the time.
