In January 2017 the Department for transport announced the £210 million from the National Productivity Investment Fund following the Autumn Statement when the Chancellor committed to invest an extra £1.3 billion improving the road network over the course of the Parliament. 

Of this, £185 million has been allocated in the 2017 to 2018 financial year to local highway authorities in England, outside London, to improve local highways and public transport networks with the remainder of the funding of £25 million being available for safer roads to help tackle some of the most dangerous A roads.

From the £185 million allocation Bath & North East Somerset Council will receive £788k with the intention of delivering the following projects:

£20k Design & Land Purchase contribution for A39/A368 Marksbury junction improvement scheme.

£50k Construction contribution towards A39 Two Headed Man junction upgrade works.

£347k Construction contribution for A37 Pensford - Road Maintenance, Traffic Flow and Safety Improvements.

£371k Construction contribution for A36 Lower Bristol Road - Road Maintenance & Traffic Flow junction improvements.
