Champion cyclist Dani King MBE is the queen of Odd Down Cycle Circuit:
The Olympic and World Champion cyclist Dani King MBE officially opened Bath & North East Somerset Council’s Odd Down Cycle Circuit on Saturday 13 July.
Following in the tracks of Sir Chris Hoy – who toured the 1.5km closed-road circuit in June – Dani signed autographs and chatted with visitors as she kicked off a day of fun for all the family.
The Cycle Circuit is the first phase in the planned redevelopment of the whole Odd Down site, which will include a new 3G Astro Pitch, improved pitches and new changing facilities.
Odd Down Cycling Circuit statement from the Council and British Cycling:
Odd Down Cycling Circuit has been specifically designed to introduce and develop opportunities for cyclists to train at all levels – as such the Circuit is unlike other cycle paths in the area which are used for general recreation. Although we welcome all ages and abilities to the Circuit, we need to ensure that it is used in a safe and controlled environment, for the benefit of all. Read full statement in documents section.
Bath & North East Somerset Council and British Cycling are working with cycling clubs across the district, including Bath CC, VC Walcot and Somer Valley CC to ensure they can make full use of the new circuit, along with the formation of a new youth cycling alliance club for Bath and North East Somerset.
The cycle circuit is part of the Odd Down Playing Fields, Chelwood Drive, Bath BA2 2PR
