Read about some of the fantastic equalities work in B&NES led by young people in schools and other settings in our E-Teams Progress report Spring 2014

Background - In June 2012, the theme for the Pupil Parliaments was on the theme of anti-bullying.  Since then, we have involved children and young people on the Anti-bullying Strategy Group and launched a ‘£100 Good Ideas Grant to Stop Bullying’.  We had 70 applications from pupils in schools and here are some of their ideas:

Creating safe places; badges for anti-bullying monitors; anti-bullying book-marks; key-rings, films, posters; ‘It’s ok to be different’ wall mural; anti-bullying workbooks and CDs; support groups.

We followed this up with a further good ideas grant for schools and other settings to set up Equalities teams (E teams) so that children and young people can be actively involved on an on-going basis in initiatives to combat bullying and give out positive messages about being different (see E-team grant application)
