Hello. I am pleased to introduce my Annual Director of Public Health Report. I hope that you will find it an interesting and lively read.
It is called Get Fresh: Health and Wellbeing in Bath and North East Somerset. As explained at the beginning of the report “FRESH” stands for some of our biggest public health priorities, with each letter covering an important area of concern and public health action.
The report contains many individual’s stories, and although it does contain a lot of important facts too, it is not stuffed with numbers and graphs because there is so much great information now available on the Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA) section of the Council web site that does not need to be repeated.
There is also a focus on how we are managing health inequalities in Bath and North East Somerset and the role of the Health and Wellbeing board in pushing that on. Then there is a section on health protection, including “tick awareness”, antibiotic resistance and how we are adapting a cancer screening programme to help residents with learning disabilities. And finally we have scoured the pages of the Bath Chronicle to find out what sort of health stories are of most interest to our public.
