MasterBond - Domestic Warranty Scheme
This is another warranty scheme, introduced by the Federation of Master Builders in association with Local Authority Building Control. It provides a two year full and ten-year structural warranty against building defects for domestic extensions, renovations and improvements.
The warranty protects against loss of deposit, defects due to faulty workmanship or materials for the first two years and against structural defects for a further eight years. Cover extends to work carried out by sub-contractors appointed by your builder and even continues if your builder subsequently goes out of business. A free dispute resolution service is available to those who have taken out the insurance, should a dispute over quality arise between you and your builder.
