Identifying Bus Lanes

A bus lane is a section of road that during specified hours of the day can only be used by buses, taxis, emergency vehicles and other specified vehicles. All of our bus lanes are located within Bath.

Bus Lane Sign

Below are some of the ways that you can identify a bus lane, some are a legal requirement and others are good practice, so may not always be in place.

  • Signs directing traffic away from the bus lane asking you to move into the correct lane.
  • Road markings with arrows pointing traffic away from the bus lane and into the correct lane.
  • A sign stating that CCTV is being used (this is a symbol of a camera).
  • A sign stating what vehicles are allowed on this part of the road this could be a picture of a taxi, bus, bike and emergency vehicle.
