Summer Reading Challenge 2018 Mischief Makers

The Summer Reading Challenge encourages children aged 4 to 11 to read six library books during the long summer holiday.

When

Between the 14 July and 9 September. For upcoming events at your local library see table below. Keep checking back to this page for more events being added...

How it works

It's very easy to do just follow these four steps

There is a different theme each year. Children can read whatever they like - fiction, fact books, joke books, picture books, audio books - just as long as they are borrowed from the library.

Children receive special rewards each time they finish a book and there's a certificate for everyone who completes the Challenge.

The Summer Reading Challenge is open to all primary school aged children and is designed for all reading abilities.

Themes

The Summer Reading Challenge 2018 will be called Mischief Makers, inspired by the much-loved iconic children's title Beano, which celebrates its 80th anniversary.

For more information visit The Reading Agency's Summer Reading Challenge website.

Volunteers

We are looking for volunteers over the age of 16 who can spare a couple of hours a week to help children sign up to
the challenge, take part in activities and get inspired to read. If this sounds like you, then please contact us today at: library_volunteers@bathnes.gov.uk or speak to a library staff member.
