Who is it for?
Homefinder is for families, couples and single people who are homeless or likely to become homeless and for single people ready to move on from supported housing. The Housing Options and Homelessness Team can let you know if you are eligible.
What does it cost?
It's a free service that helps prevent homelessness by connecting landlords with prospective tenants on low wages or benefits.
What does it offer?
Pre tenancy preparation if you live in supported housing or are a young care leaver you can sign up for the Home Achievement Programme which will get you ready to be a tenant.
Homefinder repayable loan covers rent in advance and/or rent deposit within the local housing allowance (LHA) rates. If you want to rent somewhere that costs more than the LHA rate you must show us that you can afford it. The loan is arranged with Bristol Credit Union.
Homefinder non-repayable grant covers lettings agency and tenancy arrangement fees. The grant is only available if it prevents homelessness and saves the council having to pay for alternative temporary housing.
Housing support can be provided by REACH who help you to settle in and manage bills and rent payments
How does it work?
- ask your support worker or the Housing Options and Homelessness Team to check you are eligible
- choose a property

- agree the tenancy and inventory
- apply for Housing Benefit and loans with Bristol Credit Union and Bath and District Deposit Bond Scheme
- offers you the tenancy

How many tenancies has it helped set up?
