Becoming a Childminder – what you need to know
Childminders look after children, usually in their own home. They must register with Ofsted or a childminder agency. If they care for children under the age of eight for more than two hours a day for reward they must register.
There are certain requirements you must meet to register including:
Complete relevant training to meet the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
Complete 12 hour paediatric first aid course
Complete Disclosure and Barng Service (DBS) checks for all household members over 16 years of age and sign up to the annual update service
Bath & North East Somerset childminder registration process
Please contact the Childminding Team via Richard Hill on 01225 394042 or firstname.lastname@example.org who will email you briefing information about childminding and the process to register as a childminder in this authority.
There are no childminder agencies in this area therefore all potential childminders must currently register individually with Ofsted.
Before considering becoming a childminder you should read the information about setting up a childcare business. Please follow the link to this information www.bathnes.gov.uk/services/children-young-people-and-families/working-children-early-years/setting-childcare-business
