Fostering is a big commitment, we want our foster carers to be equipped to provide a high level of care and gain the most enjoyment and rewarding experience possible. Therefore we offer a comprehensive package of support.

  • Carers have an allocated family placement worker who will visit regularly, providing individual support and advice.
  • A dedicated out of hours phone line for carers, as well as the Emergency Duty Team for emergencies.
  • Advice in relation to health and educational issues from professionals with expertise in the needs of looked after children. This includes help from the virtual school, which supports children in care.  Focussing on improving their education by monitoring their progress, supporting their educational needs and providing or commissioning additional support.

  • Respite arrangements and holiday activity programme through R2K
  • A club and activities for children of foster carers, to enable them a safe and understanding environment to share their thoughts and feelings of being part of a family that fosters, as well as having lots of fun!
  • An ID card to access discounted rates at a range of local shops and attractions, as well as all the benifits of a discovery card.
  • Sport access scheme with Better leisure facilities for foster families.
  • Zoo pass that carers can book out, by emailing or ringing the family placement team, which gives free entry at Bristol Zoo to 4 adults and 4 children. 
  • Membership to Scrapstore Bristol which gives access to low cost creative resources and 20% discount when shopping in Artrageous
