There are lots of organisations, activities and services for carers on offer in Bath and North East Somerset. We support our partner Bath and North East Somerset Carers' Centre to provide activities, breaks, counselling and advice for all carers.

Wellbeing Options supports people in Bath and North East Somerset to live full and independent lives. Here you will find information about local care providers, services and activities, along with links to other useful websites and resources

Some of this information is for people caring for someone with a particular need, like a learning disability or dementia, others are for anyone who is a carer.

We work closely with BANES Carers’ Centre to provide a range of services for people who care for someone else.

This support includes:

Free breaks for carers. Whether you want to learn a new skill, be creative, do some exercise, get some emotional support or have a day out, there are lots of carers’ breaks on offer.

- Free 30-minute health checks for carers to help you understand and look after your own mental and physical health. 

Our Directory for Older People’s services has information about organisations who support carers. If you are looking after an older person, they may enjoy attending one of the activities listed in here, while you have some time off.

You may want to attend a group or activity with carers who are looking after people with similar needs to the person you look after. The following specialist groups run in this area. BANES Carers Centre publishes Give us a Break magazine, which includes information about their specialist groups for carers of:

- people with mood disorders
- people with learning disabilities
- people with dementia

Our partner the Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership run carers and families afternoons for people caring for someone with an autism spectrum condition (ASC).

The National Autistic Society’s Avon Branch is a support group for parents and carers of adults with autism.

If you struggle to get around without support, don’t let that stop you from getting out and about. There are plenty of transport schemes on offer locally if you find it hard to get around or use public transport.
