Why use reusable nappies?

Save money

Reusable nappies are cheaper than disposable nappies. It's estimated that the cost of buying and using reusable nappies is between £182 and £359 per child. The estimated cost of using disposable nappies is £922 (Women's Environmental Network).

Reduce waste going to landfill

Nearly 3 billion disposable nappies are thrown away in the UK each year. This works out as 8 million nappies every day. 90% of these end up in landfill (Women's Environmental Network).

Save energy

The number of disposable nappies used over the average 2.5 years that a child needs nappies is in the region of 3,796. The number of reusable nappies used for the same time is 30 (An updated lifecycle assessment study for disposable and reusable nappies on GOV.UK).

Bath Cloth Nappy Library

If you're new to cloth nappies and want to learn more, or you're an old hand with a new issue, Bath Cloth Nappy Library has nappies for you to try and information to share.

Regular 'Nappy Natter' meetings are held in Bath to share information and experience. You can also borrow nappies from the nappy library, so you can decide whether or not cloth is for you. Please note, the nappy library charge a small amount to cover running costs. This also helps to expand the range of nappies you can borrow.

The cloth nappy library is run by cloth nappy expert, Ruth Walcot.
