Bath and North East Somerset is traditionally a safe place to live, work and visit. We are working hard to keep it that way.
Our Community Safety & Drugs Partnership works closely with the police, community groups and many other organisations to ensure that residents, businesses and visitors feel safe and secure.
If you are concerned about crime – whether as an individual or a business – there are many ways you can get help:
- Partners and Communities Together (PACTs): PACTS are public neighbourhood meetings where anyone can raise issues and ask for action to be taken on local crime and safety issues. The Police and Council attend these meetings to ensure action is taken and to report back on the results. Find out about your local PACTs.
- Closed circuit TV (CCTV): The Council’s 24 hour CCTV control room monitors 85 strategically placed CCTV cameras across Bath, Keynsham, Radstock and Midsomer Norton.
- Business Crime Reduction Partnerships: These have been established in Bath, Keynsham and Midsomer Norton to help protect local businesses from crimes, such as shoplifting. Members use a secure frequency radio link to exchange information through the CCTV Control Room and police. Businesses can join their local partnership by calling 07778 701072.
- Anti-Social Behaviour Team: A new Council-funded Anti-Social Behaviour Team is now operational, focusing on cutting anti-social behaviour. Please call the team on 01225 842462 or email them asb@bathnes.gov.uk
- Safer and Stronger Neighbourhoods Fund: We provide grants to community groups and other organisations who are working to make their local areas safer places.
- Taxi Marshals: This innovative scheme is helping to create a safer night time environment in our urban areas.
- Victim Support: Being a victim of crime, or witnessing a crime can be a traumatic experience for anyone. Victim Support can provide free and confidential support and information to help you deal with your experience. Call them on 08454 566 099.
