Small electrical recycling collection

To find out your collection day, please put your postcode or street name into ‘Services in your area’ in the top right hand side of this page or click on Services in your area and enter your postcode or street name.
Our NEW collection started 18 February 2013
Have you got any small electrical items that are broken or you no longer want? Find out below how you can start recycling them from home as part of our weekly green box recycling collection service or visit us as one of our electrical recycling road shows
It is a waste to throw these away because they can be recycled and made into new things using their valuable metals and plastics - one iron can provide enough steel to make 13 new steel cans.

When and how to put out your electricals

We may use different vehicles to pick up your electrical items so don’t worry if your usual recycling has been collected before or after your electricals.
- Please put your small electrical items in an untied carrier bag - don’t worry if these get wet.
- Place the bag next to your green recycling box on your usual weekly collection day by 7am. You can put out more than one carrier bag if necessary.
- Please remove any batteries first and put these in a small plastic bag at the top of your green box.
What happens to the items we collect?
All electricals we collect will be crushed, separated into their different materials and recycled to make new products. Don’t forget to donate any working electricals in reusable condition to charity if possible. See a video showing how electrical items are recycled http://www2.wrap.org.uk/recyclenow_08/how_is_it_recycled/electricals.html
